Question 3 :What have you you learned from your audience feedback?

Conclusion of Target Audience
From our target audience research and gathering the results together i can comment on how to improve on my documentary better.

On a scale of 0-5 how much have you learnt from our documentary?
The majority our documentary our audience rated 3-4 to on how much they have learnt from our documentary. This shows the results for this was quite high, therefore i feel that our documentary was informative enough.  However i think to improve on this and try to get ratings out of 5 was to include other statistics that are much deeper, and ones that we found on the Internet when browsing. For example show statistics on how many people, pay online for getting their fortunes read, This can give our documentary a bit of depth and be more informative of what it is already.

On a scale of 0-5 did you find all your unanswered questions throughout, answered during this documentary?

Again for this our audience felt it was average and rated us 3/4 but mostly 3's. I feel that we could improve on this was to maybe before we published and exported, during the editing stage when our narrative is complete to show it to a few members of the class so they can criticise and give feedback on whether they feel it makes sense, and to see if they have any unanswered questions at the end?

On a scale of 0-5 how entertaining did you find this documentary?

The Audience feedback for this was mixed feeling. Some said around 3/4 however a few  2 and 1's which is very negative. I feel to improve on this to make it more entertaining is to include vox pops maybe and cut up each interview and mix them in, so it tells a story and you can a variety and range of clips. In addition to do this we could have created a reconstruction of maybe us getting our fortunes read, over the fortune teller interview to give a variety and to make the interview vary in shots. I can agree in some areas of the documentary where it may be lacking entertainment, is the Tea Leave interview as we do not have many cutaways and i feel to improve we could have used a reconstruction here.

On a scale of 0-5 do you think you would watch this documentary again?

Again with this question there were similar mixed views from our target audience. The majority rated it 3 which i feel is very negative, seeing as one or two people rated us quite low. This obviously meant maybe the documentary was to informative for them? However from looking at other results i feel people may of not found it as entertaining because they have mixed views about our documentary being entertaining. This means we could have improved on this by, again making the documentary more entertaining by using reconstructions and voxpops.

On a scale of 0-5 do you think you would recommend this documentary to a friend or a family member?

This results for this were very mixed. I feel this could be one of their family members may not be in the same age range? Which could be out of our target audience reach. However i can also conclude that i can be probably because they may not have found it as entertaining as expected, due to variety of shots or the long narration we have? To improve on this i feel maybe we could extend our target audience therefore making it appeal to maybe a older age range as well as our young one so other people just out of reach of our target age group could also be entrained and enjoy watching it.

On a scale of 0-5 do you think the documentary contain a variation of information?

Our audience feedback from this question was very positive as the majority rated it mostly 4 in the variation of information throughout our film. I feel we varied our information however so they similarly closely link, making our documentary fluent however to improve on getting a higher rating we could've include more information still linked but more variation.

How effective did you think our editing techniques were on a scale of 0-5?

Our target audience rated us mostly 3/4 on how successful they thought our editing techniques were. I felt we did use our editing techniques to improve on our film, creating the correct eery atmosphere we wanted however i feel we could improved on this by using a wider variation of editing techniques. We could of  pushed ourselves further by taking a risk in one editing technique to experiment to give a wider range of editing techniques.

On a scale of 0-5 did you think the music we created creates the right atmosphere for our documentary?

eery atmosphere. It reflects well off our documentary and relates a lot to Fortune telling, authentic and creepy.
To improve on the music i feel that we need a bit more variation in it, maybe a few more background songs to go over different interviews to make the interviews a bit more lively, rather than mysterious as we only want to capture this in the opening sequence of our documentary.

On a scale of 0-5 how much did you feel the interviews were clear and precise?

With this we have a few high results and a few low. I feel that our audience felt that our Tea Leave interview had very Strong and precise sound however there are areas where it can downfall. This is where it muffles as our interviewee is using her hand gestures during the interview which hits the microphone a few times however it doesn't effect it that much. This can be improved by maybe asking our interviewee to try and not use her hand gestures as much therefore we wont get this muffling sound and our sound for our documentary can be more successful. Other ways i feel we got low ratings was the narration it did have a background hum. After doing it twice and editing with the audio it still contained this background hum that i feel also was a disadvantage to our film.

How effective did you think the use of cutaways where during the interview?

The majority of our audience rated this as mostly 2 and 3 as they were nearly balanced. I feel this is because we did not use enough cutaways during the interviews when we could of done. The best example of not using enough cutaways was during the Tea Leaves interview where i felt more could be added for example maybe a small reconstruction of someone getting their tea leaves read. Or even the use of images of different types of tea maybe? I felt we could of brainstormed more on the cutaways to improve variety.

On a scale of 0-5 how much of your attention did our documentary grab?

There was again mixed rating for this audience feedback. I felt maybe they may not have felt the colours weren't eye catching however if we would've done that it wouldn't have created the right atmosphere during our documentary. We could improve on making inputting a variety of different music int he background so it was interesting and kept our audience intrigued.

On a scale of 0-5 How much would you compare our first 5 minutes to a professional documentary?
Overall the results from this were quite high saying they would compare it to a documentary. Also when we posted our film on face book one of the comments was '' this is really good haha. the intro is really professional, like a bbc3 documentary or something....actually has a sort of derren brown feel to it''
However we could improve in making it more professional by using every single codes and conventions because we missed out two or one . We could involve green screen which would make it up to more of a professional standard.

On a scale of 0-5 how did you feel our documentary could be played on television and would be successful?

There were mixed feelings for this last question because our target audience gave us a lot of mixed feelings overall. However to conclude i do think the majority of our target audience was very interested in our film.To make the ratings even higher though i feel we could of made it more professional, like i said previously by fulfilling every single convention of a documentary.
