Graphs and Results from Target Audience Research

When gathering our data together we gathered it on a tally chart, which we then further used those results and put them onto a bar graph. Using the bar graphs it helps us clearly see the relationship of the graph and what our target audience is most interested in.

Here gave the questionnaires to 15 male and 15 female which helped us balance our results enabling them not to be too stereotypical and biased in the answers. This gave a fair overview of what both genders our target audience is interested in.

This question showed the age group of who we were interviewing and seeing if our theme supernatural, was a suitable genre for our age group, investigating the interests in this target audience. There were a few results in the category 20-26 however this isn’t much of a higher age group, and answers can mostly link in.

We choose this question ‘Do you believe in the supernatural?’ because we wanted to get a general overview of who we were interviewing and what they believed in firstly, so we could find out this way by going into detail and trying to find out through the other in depth questions such as ‘’Which theme in supernatural do you prefer?’’ For these results you can see the majority of the target audience we asked 16-20 does believe in the supernatural, this therefore can enable us to confidently create a documentary that we know our audience would want to watch and be interested in.

For this question we wanted to find out more in-depth about our target audience because in our documentary we are looking to discuss different genres and focus on 3 main genres as there are many different in the supernatural. By doing this it lets us know what our target audience wants us to talk about, something they are most intersted in. Here you can see the people who have answered this question (said yes to the previous question)  have most popular in Ghosts, fortunes and the same results with spirits and hauntings.

This question enables us to see how much our audience believes in Psychic readings which helps us adapt our documentary to what they believe. From the results the majority are quite unsure however still few do believe, therefore they obviously don’t want to be persuaded to believe in the supernatural therefore it helps us create n idea of the topics to talk about, an example of this could be is it fake or real? A scam? Or how much money is involved in fortune telling.

From this we can understand how closely link our target audience is with the supernatural and the experiences they have. From this we can relate to their experiences to make the documentary more emotional or we could create an experience for them to watch, see and make judgements and opinions on. This would be participatory documentary because the filmmaker is getting involved in a supernatural experience. From these results the majority is No, however there are still a high possibility people who have therefore we could have the option to create or adapt an experience.

This question enables us to explore our audience’s knowledge and believes about other types of things that can be classed or seen as fortune telling/reading the future. This can also link to our further secondary research about horoscopes, and we can refer to this statistic about how many people do read fortune telling, for some primary research.

This is an interesting question because we can see that even though people may read fortune telling, the majority of people do not believe in them therefore allows us to have other factors of why they don’t believe in them, for example entertainment, boredom, trends which can be researched into when collecting secondary and primary research. It also gives us the idea that people are influence majorly in the media, even though they don’t believe in them they still read horoscopes, which can be due to advertising purposes of celebrities and idols getting involved, which surrounds the idea about how much the media can influence what people do.

It allows us to understand how much our audience believes in depth, rather than just saying ‘sometimes’ ‘maybe’ ‘depends whose reading your fortunes’ because it’s a straight yes or no answer about spending their own money on personal use for fortune telling.
This question relates back to the planning of our documentary about the money and media involved in fortune telling. The results to this question can be used in our primary research statically investigating how many people would go and pay for a fortune telling.

This links into the question ‘would you ever go to a fortune teller?’  This question shows us how many people we asked knew at least someone who went to a fortune teller, and from these statistics lots of people have paid to go to a fortune teller. IN our documentary we did want to investigate how much money is involved in fortune telling, from the media advertisements, and these results how much of an influence the media is because quite a few people knew at least someone.

This just gives us an in depth idea about the experience they have heard about, which creates a general overview atmosphere to the supernatural, good or bad. It can argue many different opinions in the supernatural, and having both sides of opinions could make the documentary interesting and non-biased.

This question gives us an idea about what our audience believes in fortune telling. From having a balanced result it again we could use both arguments in our documentary, questioning is it true or is it all made up and influence massively upon the media.

This question is slightly biased in the results because it is heading towards the argument that the supernatural could be false, especially ghosts and spirits. It is also another primary statistic that we could involve in our primary research that we could include in our documentary which demonstrates that they could not exist.

This question does is again telling us much our target audience believe sin which genre areas, so we can therefore look at who believes and is more interested in what topics of the supernatural which will then help us choose a content for our documentary.

Similar to before it tells us how much our target audience believes in which topics of the super natural, this one discussing about ghosts and spirits.

Here the majority of the results show that people do believe in the theory of children and animals can spot the dead.  This could be interesting to include in our documentary because if a high people believe in this they may be interested in this part of the super natural, which we can further expand on when deciding about the content of our documentary.

These graphs and conclusions of results are from our target audience research questionnaire.
